College Portfolio Preparation Intensive

Grade 11-Up

Fine Art & Design / Digital Art

Our Intensive Program is designed for all Ashcan students who wish to apply to colleges the following Fall/Winter (for admittance in the Fall of the following year). During the school year, high school and college students rightly must focus most of their time on their school work and so have limited time to dedicate to their portfolio.

The Intensive allows students to give their portfolio the necessary time and attention to develop to its highest quality. In addition, the summer at Ashcan is a focused, nurturing, and ambitious community of art students whose success influences one another. The daily art practice in a summer dedicated to the portfolio has been a huge element in the outstanding achievements of Ashcan’s students, allowing their portfolios to stand out so well to college recruiters.

College Portfolio Prep. Intensive

The portfolio intensive courses are structured to bring out the highest quality of portfolio in the minimum amount of time, with vigorous art practice and studio works. In a period of 4 to 12 weeks depending on the course, students can produce an average of 6-18 pieces of artwork. While some projects like observational location drawing can take less than a class, typical art projects take about 8 or more classes to complete (4hours per class). Students are required to work intensively on both in-class work and homework given, to finish the amount of portfolio work they are aiming for.
